SAIC Helping Canada Province Run EHR System; Steve Comber Comments

SAIC Canada will continue helping a Canadian province implement and maintain an electronic health record system, the company announced Thursday.

The company won a prime three-year contract to provide technology and applications for Saskatchewan?s EHR system, associated components, other health information systems and related databases.

EHealth Saskatchewan, a crown corporation tasked with running the province?s EHR system, and the company have worked together previously to get the system running, said Steve Comber, a senior vice president and head of the health solutions business unit.

The $16 million contract with eHealth Saskatchewan is a single-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award, the company said.

In the U.S., SAIC recently acquired a commercial EHR integrator with plans to use this acquisition to compete in the federal health IT market.
